Lets get this started

I really went back and forth on whether I wanted to create a blog discussing this subject. I get nervous just talking about it but I thought maybe this might help me. I know there are many blogs and message boards out there discussing this subject but I wanted to create my own. Below is my story of how I became AFRAID to fly.

I am 35 years old and have been a flyer most of my life. My grandfather worked for AA and we were always welcome to the standby tickets every year. It wasn't until I had a bad experience on a flight coming back from Hawaii that I have been very afraid to fly.
My wife and I were coming back from our honeymoon in Hawaii when we hit some very heavy turbulence just about an hour west of LA. It was so bad I broke my seatbelt. That's right it came right out of the seat. From that point on it has been really tough.
I was scheduled to fly to Dallas from Tulsa OK this Sunday for business and I backed out on flying and I am driving instead. I find myself doing that more and more lately. It is not a big deal to Dallas or KC but later on this year I will have to be flying to the East Coast from here in Tulsa and I cannot afford to be so afraid anymore. It will start affecting my job...
The worst times for me are the times leading up to the flight. Anticipating fear, glued to the weather channel. I am very tired of this and I really want to be free from this thing.
Any suggestions?
